THE leader of the conservative US Media Research Centre says accusations of bias towards Obama by mainstream media organisations have still not been fully addressed, despite a response by Fox News.
More than 20 prominent US conservative leaders claim the alleged bias was the reason the president won the election.
Brent Bozell led the charge by sending a letter in September, which he says has still not been directly answered, to TV news outlets ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC.
It urges the members of their respective organisations to aid the conservatives and help stop the liberal attempts to rig the 2012 presidential election in favour of Barack Obama.
Mr Bozell says in the last 25 years of MRC monitoring the liberal media daily, through seven elections, their lean towards the liberals’ side has never been calculated.
“We have never witnessed a more brazen and complete attempt by the media to decide the outcome of a presidential election,” he says.
Using ‘Uncle Sam’ as a slogan directed at patriotic Americans, MRC started a donation campaign and assures its readers it is the only organisation to stop this “left-wing media agenda”.
Mr Bozell plans to, “expose the liberal media’s dangerous agenda and defend conservative leaders, values and principles against the liberal media’s politics of character assassination”.
America’s most watched news channel, Fox News, published an article in response to the letter.
“The centre [MRC] found that ABC, CBS and NBC on their evening and morning shows broadcast 88 minutes and 42 total stories on Romney.”
“They spent six and a half minutes and eight stories on Obama,” Fox News reported.
“The double-standard within just one week of the news cycle is staggering” says a Fox News commentator.
Romney’s infamous “47% tape” which ousted just under half of America, caused a huge media scramble, and left the coverage of Bozell’s letter basically untouched.
The letter sent to the media stations was signed by Kenneth Blackwell of the U.N Human Rights Commission, Matthew D. Staver, founder and chairman of the Liberty Council, and National Radio host Rush Limbaugh.
In the week leading to the election, Romney’s coverage outpaced Obama’s 10-1.
